 In his words, Yuri ‘hated Christians’. He went to a local youth outreach to give them a hard time. Today he is developing innovative youth ministry and leading other young people to faith in Christ.
‘I thought Christians were stupid’ says Yuri. ‘I hated them and was really agressive towards them. I went to their discussion club so I could shout at them and eat their food. I thought they were extra stupid to invite me back. Now I know why.’

For many people Barton (a town next to Oxford) has a bad reputation – that the estate is full of drug dealers and young people hanging around looking for trouble. That’s why we’re setting up Thrive in Barton– it’s about living in communities that are often written off, forgotten or ignored, to bring hope and transformation to young people.
